In order to address the chronic shortage of livable housing spaces for students in Sioux Lookout, IFNA has constructed two new residences. These student residences were constructed at a rapid pace in the beginning stages and students moved into their new spaces on Saturday, September 21st. The new residences house a total of 20 students, and each living space has its own private room which includes bed, desk, chairs, closet, washroom, and shower. The common areas of the homes will be used for dining, studying, and general leisure purposes.

These residences allow the students to experience a home-like atmosphere and gain a sense of belonging, while also maintaining a high level of supervision and safety given by the staff members. IFNA has hired a total of six Student Home Workers who will live on-site at the newly established residences, which will provide parenting, supervision, and mentoring supports for the students. IFNA is also engaged with Sioux Lookout schools to develop after school programs and support for students, including being able to earn extra credits after classes.
These new housing units ensure that students have a safe and supervised area to call home while they are away attending school. IFNA recognizes that there is a need to provide further opportunities for future generations, opportunities that will benefit their futures in a secure, meaningful way.
